Our Melbourne-based university client is seeking a Technical Officer – Process Chemistry & Environmental to support teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories.
Reporting to the Technical Coordinator, you will provide hands-on technical support to staff and students, maintain laboratory equipment, deliver inductions and training, and ensure laboratories operate safely and efficiently in line with OH&S requirements.
Key Responsibilities
... Support the day-to-day operation of Process Chemistry and Environmental laboratories
Operate, maintain, and demonstrate laboratory equipment and instruments
Deliver inductions, training, and technical advice to laboratory users
Maintain laboratory documentation including SOPs, risk assessments, and chemical registers
Assist with preparation of equipment and materials for teaching and research activities
Ensure laboratories are safe, compliant, well maintained, and operational at all times
About You
Experience working in chemical and/or environmental engineering laboratories including learning & teaching and research laboratories.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment relevant to chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or analytical chemistry analytical chemistry, wastewater, and/or PC1/PC2 facilities, generating appropriate operating documentation.
Understanding of OH&S legislation and laboratory safety practices
Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
