Technical Officer – Nursing Simulated Health Laboratory (HEW 6)

Our University client is seeking a skilled Technical Officer to support the operation of Nursing Simulated Health Laboratories. This hands-on, onsite role ensures smooth delivery of teaching activities through technical setup, maintenance, and lab support.
About the Role
- Full-time, 5 days per week (some staggered hours and late finishes during semester)
- Contract: 5 January 2026 – 30 June 2026
- Location: Bundoora West
- Reason for vacancy: Parental leave cover
- On-campus, face-to-face laboratory operations
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and pack down simulation labs and teaching spaces
- Support classes using healthcare simulation equipment and technologies
- Operate, troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on manikins, task trainers and AV systems (e.g., Laerdal equipment)
- Prepare consumables, moulage, equipment and teaching materials
- Manage inventory, equipment storage and waste disposal
- Assist with OSCE assessments and peak teaching periods
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Medical/Clinical fields, or related discipline, or equivalent technical laboratory experience
- Current nursing registration not required
- Valid Working with Children Check is mandatory
- Experience in simulation labs, nursing laboratories or technical support roles
- Knowledge of basic nursing procedures and commonly used medical equipment
- Hands-on experience with manikins, task trainers and simulation systems
- Strong troubleshooting, organisation and equipment handling skills
- Physically able to move and set up equipment
- Flexible and collaborative with the ability to work variable hours when required
