We are currently seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join our client’s STEM team at their Bundoora West campus. This is a 6 month initial assignment supporting the Simulated Health Nursing Laboratories. The Role
As a Technical Officer, you will be the backbone of the simulation laboratories, ensuring that both staff and students have a seamless, safe, and realistic learning experience. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the labs, focusing on the setup of clinical simulations and the maintenance of sophisticated medical equipment.
- Time Fraction: Full-time (5 days per week)
- Hours: Staggered shifts during semester (includes finishes after 6:00 PM)
- Location: Bundoora West
Key Responsibilities
- Simulation Support: Set up and support simulation-based classes, including IV cannulation stations and configuring high-fidelity manikins (e.g., SimMan3G) to simulate specific clinical conditions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with academic staff to coordinate room setups, student numbers, and equipment requirements.
- Inventory & Procurement: Monitor stock levels of consumables (catheters, wound dressings, etc.) and manage purchase orders to ensure zero downtime.
- OHS & Compliance: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments, ensuring safe handling of sharps and clinical waste.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and log faults for specialised simulation equipment.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need a blend of clinical knowledge and operational "can-do" attitude.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, a related medical/clinical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.Clearances: A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) for inventory and documentation management.
- Physical Capability: This is an active role; you must be comfortable reconfiguring lab layouts, including moving hospital beds and heavy equipment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a simulation-based learning environment or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with OHS protocols within a laboratory or hospital context.
- The ability to work flexibly during peak assessment periods (OSCEs).
