Senior Finance Officer |Adelaide CBD | 6-Month Contract | SA Public Sector | ASO7
I am partnering with a forward-thinking public sector organisation to find an insightful and collaborative finance leader for a pivotal 6-month (approx.) contract.
This Finance Officer (ASO7) role is a unique blend of high-level financial expertise and genuine, human-centric leadership. It’s an opportunity to not only manage complex finance but to actively guide a team and an organisation through a significant transformation.
You will be joining at a critical time, as the organisation implements a new Oracle financial system. We are looking for a leader who can be the key link between the technical project and the people, ensuring a smooth, successful transition.
This role is about impact and connection:
- Mentor & Develop: A core part of this role is to actively mentor and champion the Finance Officer, supporting their professional growth and enhancing the team's collective capability.
- Be the Trusted Advisor: Translate complex financial data into clear, compelling insights. You will be the go-to expert, providing strategic advice on accounting standards and policy directly to the Chief Executive and Leadership Team.
- Guide a Major Transformation: Use your expertise and collaborative skills to guide the Oracle implementation, including system configuration and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Tell the Story with Numbers: Manage the creation of all high-level financial reports and budgets, ensuring they provide a clear and accurate narrative for decision-making.
- Build Relationships: Act as the primary financial liaison, building strong, positive relationships with stakeholders across Treasury, Shared Services, and Audit.
We are seeking an insightful professional who:
- Holds Qualifications: You have a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance. A CPA/CA designation is highly valued.
- Is a Technical Expert: You have a strong background in financial management, accrual accounting, variance analysis, and management reporting (ideally within a government context).
- Is a Natural Communicator: You have a proven ability to make complex financial concepts understandable and engaging for non-financial leaders and colleagues.
- Loves Systems & Process: You have a natural affinity for financial systems (Oracle is a bonus, but your ability to learn is key!) and a keen eye for detail.
- Is a Collaborative Leader: You thrive on working with people, building consensus, and supporting your team to achieve shared goals.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep financial expertise in a role that truly values leadership, mentorship, and communication.
