We have proudly partnered with a local government council to find a collaborative and positive Team Leader to join their Financial Services department. This is a stable 12-month maternity leave cover position, perfect for a leader looking to make an impact within the community.
In this role, you’ll step away from manual processing to focus on high-level coordination, team management, and financial integrity.
Role Overview
As the Team Leader, you will oversee a dedicated team of 5.0 FTE covering Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Rating Services. Your goal is to ensure the smooth operation of the council's financial engine through effective delegation and oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Guide and support a team across Payroll, AP, and Senior Rating Services.
Reporting: Drive month-end processes and bank reconciliations.
Compliance & Authorisations: Act as the final point for payment authorisations and financial journals.
Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy across all financial systems.
What We’re Looking For
We need a leader who is approachable and maintains a "can-do" attitude in an open-plan, collaborative environment.
Experience: A solid background in finance operations (AP/AR/Payroll), likely transitioning into Management or Financial Accounting.
Leadership: Prior experience managing staff is highly preferred.
Soft Skills: Strong stakeholder management and a collaborative mindset.
Industry: Local Government experience is highly desirable given the nature of the role. (Not essential)
Requirement: A valid National Police Check (NPC) is mandatory.
