The Opportunity We are seeking a deeply technical Application Solution Architect to join a major enterprise transformation programme. This is not a role for a high-level generalist; we need a specialist who sits at the intersection of high-level architecture and detailed solution design.
You will be joining a mature and sophisticated architecture community of over 20 specialists. You will be one of a small, elite group of 2-3 architects dedicated specifically to the application domain, taking ownership of core enterprise platforms that serve millions of users.
The Role This is a hybrid role that requires you to be as comfortable with conceptual artefacts as you are with low-level detailed designs. You will be a key player in a critical selection phase for a new technology implementation. You must be able to forensically analyse the current state to identify exactly what is needed in a new system, ensuring the transition is seamless and technically sound.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design: Develop both high-level conceptual blueprints and low-level detailed designs for core enterprise applications.
Platform Selection: Lead the technical assessment and current-state analysis to inform the selection of new enterprise-scale platforms.
Complex Integration: Design the connectivity between core platforms and legacy systems. While you aren't an "Integration Architect," you must possess advanced knowledge of how applications talk to one another.
Digital Preservation: Take the architectural lead on a specialised Digital Preservation roadmap, ensuring the long-term integrity and accessibility of complex data assets.
Peer Leadership: Act as a voting member of the Architecture Working Group, providing technical scrutiny for designs across the broader architecture team.
What We’re Looking For
Technical Depth: You must be a specialist in Application Architecture. We are looking for someone with a "developer's heart"—ideally, you have a background in software engineering that allows you to understand the "how" as well as the "why."
Hybrid Mentality: You enjoy the "Solution Designer" aspect of the work. You don't just want to draw boxes; you want to ensure the solution is implementable and robust.
Integration Expertise: Proven experience with complex system integrations, APIs, and middleware, specifically within a core-platform environment.
Not a Generalist: You have deep, verifiable experience in application-specific architecture rather than a broad, shallow knowledge of IT infrastructure.
Digital Preservation: Direct experience or a strong understanding of Digital Preservation solutions (archiving, bit-rot protection, and long-term data usability) is highly desirable.
Stakeholder Influence: The ability to move between technical teams and senior stakeholders, providing pragmatic, principle-based advice.
Why This Role?
Scale: Work on core platforms within one of the largest architecture teams in the region.
Complexity: Move beyond standard "off-the-shelf" implementations into complex digital preservation and platform selection projects.
Career Growth: Join a team that values technical mastery over administrative oversight.
Requirements
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
A background in software development or engineering is strongly preferred.
Eligibility for a Working with Children Check (or relevant regional equivalent).
At Randstad Digital, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
