Due to a focus on actively managing regional growth and a commitment to high level statutory and strategic planning, we are now looking to source a seasoned Planning professional to join their Infrastructure and Development team.
About the Opportunity
As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in managing the growth of the local government area through effective development control and strategic oversight. You will act as a mentor to less experienced planners and provide expert advice to the leadership team on complex planning matters.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and determining statutory development applications in accordance with the Tasmanian Planning Scheme
- Leading strategic planning assessments and policy reviews to ensure alignment with legislative requirements
- Providing practical and innovative solutions to development issues for industry and community stakeholders
- Representing the organisation at the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal when required
- Mentoring and supervising junior planning officers to support team development
About You
This role is ideal for a planning professional who thrives on a diverse workload, moving seamlessly from onsite inspections to high level policy development and who takes pride in delivering quality results for the community
To be considered for the role you must:
- Hold a Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a closely related field (eligible for PIA membership)
- Have demonstrated knowledge of relevant Tasmanian Acts and experience in complex development assessments
- Possess highly developed analytical, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills
- Hold a valid Driver’s License and a current (or ability to obtain) Working with Vulnerable People Check
- Experience in rural or regional planning is highly desirable
