Since launching in 2022, our team has grown to include 6 full-time employees in Melbourne alongside 7 overseas support staff. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. As a Senior Fire Safety Engineer, you will lead the development of fire engineering strategies, performance-based designs, and safety solutions across a diverse portfolio of building and infrastructure projects.
Your Daily Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Conduct fire and life safety assessments, perform engineering calculations/modelling, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
Compliance & Review: Review architectural drawings and engineering specifications to ensure strict compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Collaboration: Partner closely with architects, structural and services engineers, project managers, and regulators to resolve complex fire safety issues and deliver practical recommendations.
Mentorship & Growth: Guide and mentor junior team members, contribute to project planning and resource management, and support business development through technical input and client engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
Core Expertise: Strong background in fire safety engineering, including performance-based design, fire/life safety assessments, and the application of building codes.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in fire engineering analysis tools and methods (e.g., fire and egress modelling, smoke control analysis, heat transfer, and structural fire engineering principles).
Communication: Proven ability to author clear, concise technical reports and translate complex engineering concepts into actionable design guidance.
Project Leadership: Experience leading projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, and engaging directly with regulatory authorities and approval bodies.
Mentorship: A track record of mentoring junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing, and improving internal tools and processes.
Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian building regulations and standards (particularly Victoria); experience on Melbourne-based or Australian projects is highly advantageous.
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline (postgraduate qualifications in fire engineering are highly regarded).
Professional registration or eligibility for registration (e.g., Chartered status or equivalent) in a relevant engineering institution is desirable.
Requirements: Successful applicants must hold a valid Bachelor's or Master's Degree, be able to work full-time on-site in Melbourne, and possess full authorization to work in Australia.
