About the Role
Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Dandenong VIC. They are currently seeking a Senior Finance Officer to come in and assist them on a temp contract until 31st December 2026 with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar
- Previous experience supporting Financial projects & initiatives
- Financial Analysis & Modelling skillset
- Previous government experience (Desirable, not essential)
Key responsibilities include:
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with the Manager Financial Services to coordinate cross-departmental financial priorities and initiatives.
- Long-Term Planning & Modelling: Deliver analytical support for the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP) and Budget, including scenario modelling and improvement analysis.
- Process Reviews & Governance: Audit financial processes and controls to boost efficiency, strengthen governance, and ensure legislative compliance.
- Operational Team Support: Support core accounting and reporting functions to cover team resourcing gaps and peak seasonal periods.
- Financial Improvement Initiatives: Lead projects focused on financial sustainability, service reviews, and process optimization across the finance team.
- Documentation & Reporting: Produce high-quality business cases, procedures, briefings, and Council reports to support executive decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build cross-council relationships to deliver financial initiatives, offer technical advice, and improve organizational financial literacy.
- Systems & Technology Support: Assist with the financial and analytical requirements of major system implementations and upgrades.
About You
You will be an experienced Finance Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar
- Previous experience supporting Financial projects & initiatives
- Financial Analysis & Modelling skillset
- Previous government experience (Desirable, not essential)
