Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Quality Assurance
End-to-End Delivery: Manage and deliver robust electrical designs across all project phases.
Ensure Excellence: Oversee strict QA/QC processes to maintain superior design quality and full compliance.
Technical Ownership: Take ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and quality of electrical design outputs, including arithmetical checks and independent reviews of other engineers' designs.
Smart Engineering: Conduct sophisticated value engineering (VE) exercises, ensuring every project is designed with value and efficiency in mind.
Compliance Standards: Ensure all layouts and documentation strictly align with relevant Australian standards and the Building Code of Australia/NCC.
Hands-on Support: Provide expert, ad-hoc design input whenever required to keep projects moving forward.
Project Lead & Client Relations
Client Engagement: Maintain, grow, and strengthen relationships with key clients and major stakeholders through regular, proactive engagement.
Own Communication: Manage all client-facing correspondence, taking direct ownership of communications to drive positive outcomes for all parties.
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Lead the project team and manage seamless coordination across all engineering disciplines and external consultants.
Project Kick-Off: Initiate and lead project kick-off meetings to align the team on scope, deliverables, and expectations.
Commercial Awareness: Understand the scope defined in signed fee proposals, flagging, documenting, and discussing variation items with clients transparently.
Streamlined Communication: Consolidate internal RFIs/TQs across all disciplines to avoid "drip-feeding" information to clients.
Project Health: Maintain rigorous oversight of project timelines, budgets, and overall client satisfaction.
Administrative Discipline: Update the Job Management System daily with project progress and billable hours while adhering to company policies.
Continuous Improvement: Complete design checklists for all disciplines and capture critical "lessons learnt" after each project completion to elevate future work.
What You Bring
Qualifications & Experience
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering).
Credentials: CPEng and NER certifications are highly regarded.
Proven Track Record: Minimum of 5+ years of post-graduate experience specifically operating within a building services consultancy environment.
Technical & Professional Skills
Proficient in executing electrical services design calculations, including Lighting, Maximum Demand, and Cable Calculations.
Superior analytical capability, sharp problem-solving skills, and a high attention to detail.
Strong project management capabilities with a knack for multidisciplinary services coordination.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Robust time management, prioritisation, and organisational abilities.
