We are seeking a proactive (Senior) Data Governance Officer to support the implementation and administration of a comprehensive data governance and information management framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to reduce data risk by creating practical controls and promoting a sound data culture within a highly regulated environment.
What You Will Do:
Support the development and documentation of data governance policies, standards, and guides to reduce organisational data risk.
Collaborate with data owners and custodians to create and curate business glossaries, data catalogues, and data dictionaries.
Proactively engage with business stakeholders to promote data management procedures and explain best practices for metadata governance.
Assist in data management initiatives, including data profiling, data quality assessments, and the development of metrics and dashboards.
Monitor compliance and identify data-related risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and APRA prudential standards.
What You Need to Apply for This Role:
High-level understanding of data governance and information management concepts, ideally aligned with the DAMA DMBOK framework.
Practical experience using data management tools such as Alex, Alation, Collibra, or Informatica.
Proficiency in using SQL or similar tools to interrogate databases and evaluate data quality and meaning.
Knowledge of (or a strong desire to learn) regulatory requirements including CPG235 and Australian Privacy Principles.
Previous experience within the Financial Services industry or a related APRA-regulated environment is highly desirable.
