The Opportunity
As the Senior CAD Drafter, you won't just be drafting—you'll be providing technical leadership and mentorship to design teams across multiple engineering disciplines. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and closely supporting Design Package Leads, you will be the cornerstone for quality and delivery excellence in our CAD design outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Production: Utilise your high proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D to create, check, and manage technical drawings for signalling, communications, and electrical design packages.
Standards Compliance: Ensure all CAD design deliverables rigorously conform to Public Transport Authority (PTA) Drafting Standards and associated contract requirements.
Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor other drafting and design resources, driving a culture of teamwork, delivery excellence, and continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance: Exhibit excellent attention to detail to accurately read and interpret complex Engineering plans and drawings, ensuring a verifiable track record of CAD design proficiency and timely delivery.
Planning & Resources: Contribute to resource planning, resourcing requirements, and effective budget management for design works.
About You

Essential Requirements:
Experience: A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Railway Signalling, Communications, and Electrical CAD design.
Project History: Extensive, verifiable experience working on large-scale Rail Infrastructure Projects.
Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient with AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
Standards Expertise: Proven experience with Public Transport Authority (PTA) Drafting Standards and associated requirements is mandatory.
Qualifications: Certificate or Diploma of Drafting or Engineering (or equivalent).
Desirable Qualities:
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor design colleagues.
Soft Skills: Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Mindset: A diplomatic, dynamic, and innovative approach to tasks and team challenges.
