We are seeking a commercially-minded Regional Accountant to join the Gippsland management team. This is a multifaceted role that blends technical financial accounting with operational business partnering, staff leadership, and regional office management.
About the role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be the financial lead for the Gippsland region, providing critical advice to regional management and overseeing a small administration team. This role is perfect for an accountant who enjoys getting out from behind the desk to understand the operational drivers of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
... Act as a key member of the regional management team, providing financial support and advice to drive performance.
Deliver accurate monthly management reports, manage the general ledger, and maintain the regional fixed asset register.
Lead the annual regional budget process and prepare quarterly forecasts and reviews.
Oversee customer credit limits, monitor aged receivables, and manage the quarterly credit review process.
Directly manage and coach two Administration Officers, ensuring compliance with timetables and high performance.
Provide specialised reporting and budget preparation for nursery operations.
Drive enhancements in reporting systems and the Finance/Log Accounting software
Support property management and participate in ad-hoc operational projects, including supporting firefighting duties when required.
The successful candidate:
We are looking for a self-directed, achievement-oriented professional who can manage diverse tasks simultaneously without compromising on accuracy.
Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA) or are currently working towards completion.
Proven experience in a commercial accounting environment with a strong understanding of profit and cost drivers.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Experience with TechnologyOne is highly regarded.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff, allocate workloads, and provide performance coaching.
Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to influence change across various levels of the business.
Requirements: A current Australian Driver’s Licence is mandatory, as the role involves travel to various regional offices and head office.
