Are you a strategic communications Public Relations professional with a passion for Sydney’s vibrant event scene? We are currently seeking an experienced Public Relations Manager to join a leading NSW Government body on a contract basis.
This role is pivotal in guiding an external Public Relations agency to develop and execute a strategy. You will be responsible for maximising publicity to drive event attendance, ticket sales, and overnight visitation, ensuring all activity aligns with brand messaging and organizational objectives.
Role Details
- Pay Rate: $88.92 - 97.98 + Super
- Location: Sydney, NSW
- Contract Length: until 27th July
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the external Public Relations agency in the delivery of festival publicity campaigns across multiple channels
- Develop media materials (releases, briefs, run sheets), manage media calls, and pitch high-impact opportunities
- Create bespoke influencer itineraries and host broadcast, media, and influencer "famils" to highlight key destination angles
- Act as the lead Public Relations contact, liaising with internal teams, commercial partners, and government stakeholders to ensure aligned messaging
- Oversee the creation of editorial content, imagery, and video assets, ensuring they meet strict brand guidelines
- Manage financial budgets, trackers, and comprehensive media monitoring reports to evaluate campaign success.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Significant experience in public relations within the tourism, travel, or media industries.
- A current and active network of media and influencer contacts within Australia
- Demonstrated ability to identify unique influencer-led Public Relations opportunities and negotiate strong coverage outputs
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, ideally within a politically sensitive or government environment
- The ability to provide high-quality outputs under presssure and tight timeframes
- Experience using Drupal, Google Analytics -GA4
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
