The Role

Core Project Delivery
End-to-End Ownership: Lead the project lifecycle from initial tender handover and value engineering through to practical completion and the end of the defects liability period.
Programming & Scheduling: Develop and manage baseline programs, ensuring critical path milestones are met and proactively identifying potential delays.
Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee Project Quality Plans (PQP) to ensure all builds exceed the National Construction Code (NCC) and client-specific requirements.
Financial & Contractual Management
BIF Act Compliance: Manage all project finances in strict accordance with the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017, ensuring payment schedules are issued accurately and on time.
Budgetary Control: Conduct monthly cost-to-complete forecasting and reporting, ensuring the project maintains or improves upon the original tendered margin.
Procurement: Review the negotiations and letting of major trade packages, ensuring "back-to-back" contractual terms that mitigate head-contract risks.
Safety & Compliance
WHS Leadership: Drive a "safety first" culture on-site, ensuring all works comply with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) regulations and the company’s safety management system in partnership with your safety manager and onsite advisors.
QBCC Alignment: Ensure all site activities and sub-contractor engagements align with Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) licensing requirements.
Stakeholder & People Management
Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the Principal/Client, providing transparent reporting and managing expectations regarding program and cost.
Consultant Coordination: Direct the design team (architects, engineers, etc.) to ensure buildability and timely release of "Issued for Construction" (IFC) documentation.
Leadership: Manage and mentor the project team, including Site Managers and Contract Administrators, to foster a high-performance culture.
Experience/Qualifications Required
- A stable track record of delivering new build projects in Australia for the head contractor with values up to $60m (whilst the team delivers projects up to $200m)
- Strong tenure within your employment history
- A trade or tertiary qualification in construction
- Strong software skills in programs such as Procore, Jobpac and MS suites.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
- A passion for leading teams and delivering positive outcomes for all involved. Our client isn't looking to just fill a seat this role is a growth hire.
