Randstad is partnering with a major State Government agency to recruit an analytical and proactive Project Finance Analyst to support a critical Project Management Directorate. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels at financial forecasting and thrives in a business-partnering capacity.
The Opportunity:
This is an integral role where you'll act as the key liaison between the Finance function and the Project Management teams. Your focus will be ensuring financial rigour and providing the specialist advice needed to keep a large portfolio of projects on track and on budget.
... Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Finance Business Partnering Manager, your duties will include:
Financial Forecasting & Accruals: Provide hands-on assistance to Project Managers with monthly financial accruals, budgeting, and forecasting.
Cost Formation Specialist: Provide specialist support in building and maintaining project financial cost formations, forecasting models, and ensuring seamless integration with existing financial systems.
Budgeting & Guidance: Guide Project Managers in accurately costing and budgeting for both new and existing projects within the portfolio.
Variance Analysis & Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between Finance and Project teams, actively investigating variances and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all project cost data.
Advisory & Improvement: Apply problem-solving and analytical techniques to continuously improve financial data accuracy and provide timely, proactive advice on the financial health of the Directorate's portfolio.
Skills and Experience Required:
Proven experience in a Project Accounting, Project Analyst, or similar financial role.
Expertise in project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial analysis.
Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and advise non-finance staff to adopt financial management best practices.
Strong relationship-building, written communication, and negotiation skills with various internal and external stakeholders.
Possession of a tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (or eligibility for professional membership to CA, CPA, or IPA).
Substantial knowledge and experience working with Financial Management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) in large, complex organisations.
