Key Responsibilities
As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical and commercial success of ground stabilisation, concrete structures and civil packages. You will operate as a key link between project leadership and site execution.
Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of piling rigs, foundation pours, and slab construction, ensuring all works align with the IFC drawings.
Supervise civil work packages, including bulk earthworks and detailed excavation, specifically managing the high-risk permits required for working within live electrical terminal stations.
Support and oversee ground stabilisation and site benching activities to ensure site traffic is compliance with Victorian geotechnical requirements.
Manage subcontractor progress claims and variations, ensuring accurate tracking of quantities for earthworks and concrete volumes against the budget.
Facilitate procurement of long-lead civil materials (e.g., specialised high-strength concrete or reinforcement steel) to prevent delays in the project schedule.
Compile and review Quality ITP's, ensuring every foundation pedestal and containment asset meets the technical specifications of Victorian energy authorities.
Develop and update short-range schedules (3-week look-aheads) to coordinate plant, labor, and material deliveries within the logistical constraints of regional Victorian sites.
Monitor site productivity and safety, ensuring that all civil works are performed under the appropriate SWMS and in accordance with the project’s Safety Management Plan.
Project Logistics & Rosters
Due to the location of these energy assets across metro Melbourne and regional Victoria. On occasion, candidates must be prepared to work on a Drive-In, Drive-Out (DIDO) basis.
The primary rosters are 5 days on, 2 days off, with flexibility required to move to a 10 days on, 4 days off (or similar) arrangement during peak construction phases.
Full site travel, high-quality accommodation, and meal allowances are provided.
Requirements
We are seeking a technically proficient individual with a proactive approach to site management and a background in the Australian civil market.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a recognised equivalent qualification.
Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Engineer capacity, specifically delivering structural concrete or heavy civil packages.
Previous exposure to the energy sector (Substations, Wind, Solar) or heavy industrial infrastructure is highly regarded.
Comprehensive understanding of Victorian OHS regulations and environmental management requirements.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost forecasting and contract administration.
- VESI training highly regarded
Full Australian working rights and a valid Driver’s License are essential.
