Are you an experienced Java Application Developer looking for a challenging and impactful contract role?
A key Government Agency focusing on workplace safety, compensation, and industrial relations is undertaking a significant change initiative. We are seeking a highly skilled developer with a minimum of five years' experience to join the project team responsible for delivering critical process and technology enhancements to support their regulatory services.

🌟 The Role: What You'll Be Doing
You will be working with the Core Systems team to design, develop, maintain, and support a wide array of in-house applications built on Oracle and Enterprise Java technologies.
...Design and Develop: Create effective and efficient solutions for new or enhanced systems, ensuring they meet client requirements and business objectives.
Systems Analysis: Perform system analysis, design, and development, adhering to the client's established standards and practices.
Quality & Support: Resolve application support issues for custom in-house applications, provide advice on maintenance, and perform regular system maintenance tasks.
Compliance: Adhere to the client's Change and Release Management procedures.
đź’Ľ Project Focus: Review and Appeals Unit
Your work will be centered on providing a fit-for-purpose technology solution to enable better productivity within the Review and Appeals Unit. This unit manages the review of decisions made by workers' compensation insurers, as well as internal reviews for work health and safety, electrical safety, and labour hire licensing matters.
🛠️ Essential Skills and Knowledge
We are looking for a high level of competency with at least five years' experience in the following technologies and concepts:
Enterprise Java Development (Java 17 or 21).
Web Development (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, jQuery).
Spring 5.x including Spring Security.
Database: Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL) and Hibernate/JPA.
Build & Version Control: Maven and GIT (via Atlassian Bitbucket).
Testing: Unit and integration testing (e.g., Mockito, PowerMock, jUnit) and web testing principles using tools like Selenium.
Tools: Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
Application Server (TomEE or Tomcat based).
Experience in the design and development of secure online services and web apps for external stakeholders.
Desirable but beneficial: JSF (Primefaces or similar component library knowledge) and experience with deployment/maintenance of Unix and/or Windows hosted solutions.
