Operating within a high-security, high-tech manufacturing environment, you will lead the management of warehousing capabilities across multiple Canberra based locations. Your focus will be on precision, security, and the seamless integration of supply chain workflows to ensure production continuity for the Defence and its partners.
About You
We are looking for a collaborative leader with;
- Security Clearance: You must hold a current NV1 Security Clearance.
- Extensive experience: 3–5+ years in a senior warehousing or logistics leadership role with deep knowledge of advanced manufacturing warehousing operations within complex production environments.
- A deep understanding of ITAR, Defence compliance, import/export, and controlled material handling.
- Advanced knowledge of inventory control frameworks including traceability, serialisation, configuration control, and engineering change impacts.
- Strong understanding of integrated ERP/MRP systems and their impact on inventory integrity, production planning, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of supply chain risk management and business continuity planning principles.
- Ability to set functional strategy and translate enterprise objectives into warehouse operational plans.
- Ability to lead through others, developing supervisors and team leaders to deliver high performance and accountability.
About the role:
As the Head of Warehousing, you will provide high-level leadership across warehousing, logistics, inventory control, and materials management. You will lead the supply chain that supports intricate manufacturing, engineering, and R&D requirements.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Strategic Direction: Develop and implement a long-term warehousing strategy aligned with organisational objectives, specifically tailored for high-complexity engineering environments.
- Operational Excellence: Contribute to operational planning, including demand forecasting, production readiness, and new product introduction. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing systems, processes, and physical infrastructure.
- Compliance & Security: Act as the custodian for WHS obligations, quality standards, and stringent Defence export control legislation.
- Controlled Material Handling: Oversee the secure management of sensitive materials and lead the business through rigorous internal and external audits.
- Systems Optimization: Drive the enhancement of ERP/MRP systems to improve data accuracy, operational performance, and stockflow visibility.
- Multi-Site Oversight: Manage the flow of material across four Canberra-based locations, optimising space utilization and logistics transfers.
- Leadership and Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing warehousing team aligned to organisational value, while setting clear performance expectations and capability development pathways.
