- Experienced haematology and transfusion medical scientist
- Proficiency in haematology morphology, including a wide range of haematological disorders.
- Competency in transfusion blood grouping, including antibody detection and ID, different antibody techniques, automation, adsorption and elution techniques, and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lab Operations: Oversee daily activities within Clinical Biology laboratories, ensuring equipment and instruments are maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
- Regulatory Compliance: Develop and monitor Chain of Custody procedures for human tissue and biological samples in line with national legislation and ethical guidelines.
- Technical Support: Provide expert advice and agile training to students and staff on lab practices, SOPs, and specialized haematology equipment.
- Safety & Governance: Maintain rigorous OH&S standards, manage chemical registers, and conduct routine audits of sample tracking and storage facilities.
- Documentation: Create and implement SOPs, Risk Assessments, and training materials to ensure a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
About You
- Qualifications: A Degree or higher in Haematology or a related clinical discipline.
- Experience: Proven background in laboratory operations, preferably within a Higher Education or Research setting.
- Compliance Mindset: Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and human tissue regulatory frameworks.
- Mandatory: A valid Working with Children Check (WWC) is required.
