About the Role
Our client is a well-known Australian federal tribunal that conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments, and agencies under a wide range of Commonwealth laws. They are currently seeking a Finance Officer to come in and join their team on a 24 week temp role with potential for extension. 
Candidates for this role must have experience in a similar role, coupled with Knowledge of and experience in using financial systems such as SAP and experienced in working with multiple systems and Excel workbooks concurrently. 
The Finance Officer’s purpose is to ensure all refunds of application fees and travel allowance are paid in an efficient and timely manner.
This role provides administrative and clerical support by processing, verifying, and reconciling application fees refunds and travel allowance, attending to all fees and travel enquiries, keeping detailed records of all transactions in various systems, and liaising with applicants and Registry Staff.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Refunds Processing: Monitor and respond to Refunds email inbox and answer all calls within Service Level Agreement (SLA). Process and upload Migration and General and Other Jurisdictional Area refunds into the applicable systems. Update the Standard Operating Procedures as required to ensure the document is always current.
- Travel Allowance (TA): Process all travel allowances for staff and members in accordance with the statutory guidelines. Update the TA rate schedules in SAP every year when allowances are updated. Liaise with all levels of staff to ensure they understand the breakdown of their allowances and escalate when needed. Attend to all enquiries in Travel inbox and phone calls. Update the Standard Operating Procedures as required to ensure the document is always current.
- Process Improvements: Assist the Senior Financial Governance and Systems Officer with process improvements for Refunds, Travel, and minor enhancements to processes.
About You
You will be an experienced Finance Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions
The successful candidate will possess:
- Excellent attention to detail and experience in ensuring accurate processing of payments, travel, and other transactions.
- Knowledge of and experience in using financial systems such as SAP and experienced in working with multiple systems and Excel workbooks concurrently, that is basic Excel skills as a minimum to enter, collect and present verified financial information.
- Well-developed written and verbal communications skills, including ability to clearly articulate the issue and / or action to be taken.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to execute instructions as directed by senior team members and work collaboratively with the team to promptly action tasks.
