About the Opportunity
Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent Local Government body to recruit an experienced and highly organized Events Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Economic and Cultural Activation Service Unit and lead the delivery of high-profile civic events that celebrate and connect the local community.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and evaluation of diverse events. Your day-to-day will include:
- Event Leadership: Leading the planning and delivery of the Annual Grant Celebration, Community Awards, and Australian Citizenship Ceremonies.
- Strategic Planning: Developing comprehensive event plans, including timelines, budgets, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Logistics & Compliance: Coordinating internal departments and external vendors while ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitating regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review upcoming events and gather input.
- Administration: Managing finance tasks such as purchase orders and invoices, maintaining community databases, and preparing council reports/briefings.
- On-Site Management: Overseeing event delivery on the day, resolving issues promptly to ensure a high-quality experience for all attendees.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Event Management, or a lesser qualification backed by significant relevant experience.
- Sector Experience: Proven experience in the events sector with a strong understanding of event operations and public gathering regulations.
- Financial & Resource Management: Demonstrated proficiency in managing budgets, personnel, and materials to ensure efficient event delivery.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to build relationships, collaborate across departments, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
- Judgement & Problem Solving: Sound judgement in identifying risks and implementing effective solutions under pressure.
- Contextual Knowledge: An understanding of the local government context within which the role operates.
