Are you a savvy digital storyteller with a knack for community engagement? We are partnering with a prominent Local Government organisation in Melbourne’s South East to find a proactive Digital Communications Advisor to join their high-performing Corporate Services team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance a public-facing digital presence, managing diverse social channels and website content that directly impacts the local community.
The Role
As a Digital Communications Advisor, you will be the engine room of the Council's online identity. You will work closely with the Team Leader of Digital Communications to create a cohesive, engaging, and accessible digital experience for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Strategy: Establish a content calendar and produce high-quality multi-media content (including video and photography) for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and the Council website.
Community Engagement: Monitor social media channels, respond to community inquiries, and analyze data to evaluate sentiment and campaign effectiveness.
Internal Consultancy: Provide expert advice to internal business units on digital best practices, tone of voice, and channel selection.
Brand & Accessibility: Ensure all digital output complies with strict accessibility standards and corporate brand guidelines.
Crisis & Events: Assist with timely crisis communications and attend project launches or ministerial visits to capture live content.
About You
You are a digital native who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the nuances of communicating within a political and legal framework.
To be successful, you will bring:
Proven Experience: A background in administering professional social media accounts and websites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in content curation, multi-media production, and the use of analytics to drive improvement.
Strong Communication: Exceptional writing skills and the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with external contractors (videographers, designers).
Judgment & Autonomy: The ability to work with minimal supervision, making sound operational decisions based on experience.
Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing, along with a current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
