We are actively recruiting an experienced and dedicated Control Systems Engineer for a Tier 1 Miner. This role is focused on providing essential BAU support to their 24/7 on-site maintenance operations. This is offered as an initial 6-12 month contract with a strong potential for ongoing extension. It is a FIFO role on a 2:2 swing out of Perth. We are seeking a specialist in complex control systems, with a priority on Siemens platforms for their CNC machinery. This position commands a highly competitive daily rate within the market.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the site leadership team, the successful candidate will be tasked with the fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance, optimisation, and technical support of complex control systems applied across the client's heavy mobile and fixed plant infrastructure. Key duties include:
Delivering immediate and effective front-line control system support to maintain operational continuity and minimise downtime within the 24/7 environment.
Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and necessary programming modifications on CNC machinery, leveraging primary expertise in Siemens control systems (e.g., Sinumerik, S7 PLCs).
Providing essential support and maintenance for control systems deployed on secondary critical production assets, including Wheel Lathes and large Gantries.
Diagnosing and resolving complex faults in diverse control hardware, including Kollmorgen controllers and SICK PLCs.
Developing, testing, and commissioning PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming changes in response to site needs.
Interfacing with SQL databases for purposes of data logging, reporting, and system integration tasks.
Utilising development environments such as Visual Studio for custom application and advanced programming support.
Providing technical support for legacy or customised control systems, including those utilising the Cway platform.
Ensuring all technical documentation and reports are created and maintained with high levels of accuracy and detail.
Strict adherence to all client site safety standards and operational procedures is mandatory.

Demonstrated, practical experience as a Control Systems Engineer or Automation Engineer within a heavy industrial, mining, or large-scale manufacturing environment.
Expert-level proficiency in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and programming of CNC machine control systems.
Extensive, verifiable experience with Siemens PLC hardware, software, motion control, and safety systems.
Secondary Requirements:
Verifiable experience with control systems employed on Wheel Lathes and large-scale Gantries.
Direct practical experience with Kollmorgen servo/motion controllers.
Experience with SICK PLCs and the implementation of safety-rated systems.

Qualifications and Attributes
A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or an equivalent technical field is highly desirable.
A proactive commitment to safety and proven experience working within stringent industrial safety standards is essential.
Superior problem-solving capabilities and the capacity to operate effectively and autonomously under pressure.
Exceptional communication skills, required for effective liaison with all levels of site personnel.
