We are looking for a versatile Cloud Platform Engineer with deep expertise in both AWS and Azure to join a high-impact team supporting a major government initiative. This role is focused on the design, automation, and long-term management of secure cloud infrastructure that powers critical public services.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Security Clearance
An active AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 security clearance is REQUIRED. Due to the high-security environment of this project, we cannot consider applicants who do not currently hold one of these verifiable Australian Government clearances.
The Role
As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the architectural health and operational efficiency of a hybrid cloud environment. You will work at the intersection of infrastructure design and modern DevOps, ensuring scalability, security, and performance are baked into every deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Design & Execution: Create and deploy robust, multi-cloud architectures that meet evolving organisational needs for efficiency and scale.
- End-to-End Automation: Streamline operations by automating the deployment of applications and services via CI/CD pipelines, reducing manual errors and increasing delivery speed.
- Security & Governance: Implement rigorous security protocols and "security-by-design" principles to safeguard data and applications against vulnerabilities.
- Resource Optimization: Analyse cloud usage patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities and performance bottlenecks across both AWS and Azure.
- Observability & Reliability: Monitor system health and troubleshoot complex compute, networking, and OS-level issues to maintain high availability.
- Resilience Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures.
Your Technical Profile
We are looking for a specialist with 5–10+ years of hands-on experience managing complex infrastructure in both AWS and Azure environments.
Technical Essentials:
- Multi-Cloud Proficiency: Strong knowledge of IaaS services across both platforms, including VMs, storage accounts, load balancers, and NSGs.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced hands-on experience with Terraform Enterprise and GitHub Actions.
- Containerisation: Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes for modern application hosting.
- Scripting & Linux: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, along with strong Linux administration skills.
- DevOps Lifecycle: Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure with developer workflows.
- Service Management: A solid understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, and Problem Management).
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Highly Regarded: AWS or Azure certifications (Administrator, DevOps, or Solutions Architect).
- Industry Experience: Proven success working within government or other highly regulated, secure sectors.
- Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
At Randstad Digital, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
