We are seeking a senior Cloud Network Engineer to manage and evolve the core connectivity infrastructure for a major digital transformation project. This role is focused on maintaining the integrity, security, and performance of complex multi cloud networking environments within the Australian Public Sector.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Security Clearance
Candidates MUST hold an active AGSVA Baseline Clearance. Preference will be given to those who currently hold an NV1 clearance or are eligible to obtain one. Due to the high-security nature of this government client, applications without an active clearance cannot be processed.
The Role
As a Cloud Network Specialist, you will be responsible for the daily health and strategic configuration of network components across Azure and AWS. You will work within a highly structured environment, ensuring that all traffic flows are secure, optimised, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Lifecycle Management: Maintain and manage existing cloud networking components, including NSGs, VNets, Load Balancers, UDRs, and Application Gateways.
- Security & Segmentation: Ensure Network Security Groups (NSGs) are consistently applied and aligned with strict organisational security policies and Zero Trust segmentation models.
- Architecture & Patterns: Develop network patterns, load balancer configurations, and complex DNS integration's to support evolving application needs.
- High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR): Support the operational integrity of load-balanced solutions across multiple regions and zones to ensure 24/7 service availability.
- Collaborative Troubleshooting: Partner with platform, security, and application teams to diagnose connectivity issues and implement approved changes under strict governance.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilise Azure Network Watcher, Log Analytics, and Azure Monitor to respond to alerts and maintain network health.
- Incident Response: Assist in root cause analysis for network-related outages and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Your Technical Profile
We are looking for a veteran networking professional with 5–10+ years of experience managing enterprise-grade infrastructure.
Technical Essentials:
- Multi-Cloud Networking: Deep expertise in Azure and AWS networking services, including routing principles, IP addressing, and cloud firewall policies.
- Advanced Connectivity: Hands-on experience with Application Gateways, Cloudflare, UDRs, and service endpoints.
- Topology Expertise: Proven ability to manage multi-region, multi-zone network topologies.
- Governance: Experience working in highly structured environments with strict change control and audit requirements.
- Modern Tooling: Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or ARM templates) for managing network configurations.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Highly Regarded: Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (or AWS equivalent).
- Industry Context: Previous experience in government or highly regulated environments with high-security benchmarks.
- Strategic Understanding: A solid grasp of Zero Trust Networking principles and cloud native security frameworks.
