Civil/Structural Engineer
Randstad are seeking a highly capable and experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our mining client’s technical engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of our client's fixed plant civil and structural assets, meeting Australian standards and regulatory requirements, together with company objectives. This will be achieved by applying engineering principles and tools to drive capital and continuous improvements projects, through clear communication, problem solving and delivering business critical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with project teams for the scoping and development of capital and operational projects, condition assessment, as well as assisting with the management of civil, structural and concrete projects
- Drive continuous improvement by actively identifying, developing and delivering improvement opportunities and initiatives related to civil and structural assets
- Generate and review project plans, inspection reports and analyses for structural steel, concrete, and civil infrastructure
- Identify effective and cost efficient engineering solutions
- Advise on repair, remediation and mitigation methodologies for damaged civil and structural plant
- Provide engineering and inspection input into shutdown/major outages scopes, specifically for structural and civil works
- Conduct structural analysis, fitness for purpose, and remaining life assessments & estimations for fixed plant structures
- Build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
- Foster effective and productive working relationships across all internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety through effective field leadership and supporting colleagues
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, or similar relevant tertiary education/experience
- Sound understanding of Structural and Civil Engineering principles with previous experience in heavy industries (eg. mining, oil & gas, power generation, etc.)
- Minimum of 5+ years industry experience working with industrial structures (e.g., conveyors, crushing plants, processing facilities), concrete foundations, and civil infrastructure
- A demonstrated understanding of asset management, strategy development, maintenance execution, maintenance planning & reliability, or production processes is preferred
- Knowledge and experience in structural analysis software (SpaceGass)
- Previous steel and concrete structural design experience
- Effective communication skills across functional stakeholders including the production, maintenance & engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions
- Experience identifying risks, conducting risk analysis, risk prioritisation and controls to monitor and manage risks to enable the achievement of project outcomes
- Previous experience in computing systems including SAP and MS Suite is essential
