The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly analytical Business Analyst to join a critical, large-scale S/4 HANA transformation program within a major Queensland Government department.
Working from the perspective of the Finance and Procurement Command, you will be instrumental in driving business process transformation, bridging the gap between current (AS-IS) processes and the new S/4 HANA future (TO-BE) state. This role requires a specialist who can translate complex technical requirements into practical business solutions, manage diverse stakeholders, and actively support implementation activities.
If you thrive in complex environments, possess exceptional analytical rigour, and have a proven track record in financial systems change, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Gap Analysis & Documentation: Evaluate, document, and clearly articulate the differences (AS-IS vs. TO-BE) in system and business processes, with a focus on Finance and Procurement.
System Implementation Support: Actively participate in the creation and execution of detailed test scripts (UAT), ensuring the new S/4 HANA system is fully tested and fit-for-purpose.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers (e.g., Queensland Shared Services) to accurately map and secure buy-in for TO-BE requirements.
Solution Design & Communication: Propose, communicate, and translate complex technical information into strategic, actionable recommendations for management.
Process Modelling & Change Management: Create detailed business process documents and artefacts using available tools, working closely with the Change Manager to define and articulate change impacts.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify project risks and recommend robust solutions.
Training Support: Assist in ensuring training materials are timely and comprehensive, and that training activities are completed as expected.
We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Experience)
Proven Experience: Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, specifically across financial operations, procurement, and accounting modules.
ERP Expertise: Demonstrated experience in end-to-end business process mapping and transformation with major ERP systems such as SAP S/4 HANA, SAP ECC 6.0, SAP FICO, Concur, or Ariba.
Procurement Process Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge and competence in carrying out the end-to-end procurement process, including tender evaluation, negotiation, contract award, and debriefing.
Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to engage, influence, and manage complex stakeholder groups across multiple departments.
Analytical Rigour: Strong skills in process mapping, data analysis, testing (UAT), and producing high-quality documentation.
Leadership Competencies: Demonstrable evidence against the 'Individual Contributor' competencies of Vision (Leading Change, Making Insightful Decisions), Results (Building Enduring Relationships, Driving Accountability), and Accountability (Pursuing Continuous Growth, Sound Governance).
Highly Desirable
Previous working experience across Queensland State Government departments (highly advantageous).
