Position Summary
My client in the hire equipment space is seeking a Branch Manager to oversee all operational aspects of a busy branch location across traffic. This role reports to the NSW State Manager and has 9 direct reports including Hire Controllers and a Workshop Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can drive performance, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and foster a positive, productive work environment.
Core Responsibilities
The Branch Manager is responsible for the complete oversight of all branch functions, including operations, administration, customer service, quality, safety, and people management.
Branch Management & Operations: Oversee the smooth and efficient daily operations, ensuring all personnel adhere to company policies. This includes responding to customer requests within agreed timelines , addressing complaints , and maintaining adequate levels of hire and accessory stock. You will monitor and audit after-hours transactions to minimize their frequency , and ensure a high level of security at all times. You'll also work closely with the workshop team to prioritize repairs , plan maintenance , and ensure all company vehicles are clean, presentable, and roadworthy. You are also responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of the entire Liverpool location.
Financial & Administrative Duties: You'll manage and reconcile the branch's petty cash and credit card fortnightly , and daily electronic banking. This role involves reviewing and approving creditor invoices for sub-hire transactions , processing customer credit requests , and reviewing all prebilling reports. You are also responsible for monitoring and approving weekly timesheets for all branch staff to ensure accuracy.
Customer & Sales Support: You will ensure all customer service staff maintain a "we always get it done" attitude and respond professionally to customer requests to ensure satisfaction. You may need to allocate staff to coordinate on-site inspections and will liaise with the sales team to assist with pricing for tenders.
Safety & Compliance: You are required to ensure all staff understand and adhere to the company's Integrated Management System and all policies and procedures. This includes conducting regular branch audits , reviewing servicing procedures , and promptly reporting all incidents and near misses. An active approach to reducing the branch's carbon footprint is also expected. Additionally, you will ensure correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by all staff at all times.
Team Leadership & Development: You will act as a coach and mentor for your direct reports , delegating tasks based on skill and identifying training needs. You will also be involved in personnel matters such as recruitment and termination. The role also involves assisting other company personnel as needed and participating in training programs.
Performance Metrics (KPIs): Key performance indicators include exceeding revenue and EBITHO budgets , reducing long-term sub-hires by converting them to company-owned assets , and actively reducing Lost Time Injuries. You are also expected to work with the team to reduce the branch's carbon footprint annually and achieve zero un-charged damages to customers or transport contractors due to process failure
