The Role: Band 5 Injury Management Support Officer
Location: Greensborough, VIC 3088

Contract Length: 1 Month contract
Hours: Full time for 5 weeks
About the role:
Working within a team environment and reporting to the Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator, the role of Injury Management Support Officer is to provide support to the Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator and the Injury Management Advisor in accordance with the OHS Act 2004 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013.
The role will provide relevant site incident reports and summaries to divisional Safety & Wellbeing Committees and monthly injury statistics for the People and Culture reports.
The role will be in work and non-work related injury case management, and provide reporting on key indicators within injury management. In addition the role will ensure all new vendors are set up in Authority and paid accordingly in a timely manner and will maintain the Incident Reporting System (currently Elumina), predominantly regarding claims data.
Key Responsibilities include:
... - Lodge all WorkCover claims within legislative timeframes and process all associated administration tasks within legislative requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Injury Management Advisor to develop strategies that have a long-term focus, based around injury management and injury prevention to achieve safe, sustainable and timely return to work outcomes for injured workers.
- Prepare tailored Return to Work Plans that take into account individual staff capacity - work related and non-work related.
- Liaise directly with Insurance Agent and prepare and remit Weekly Compensation Reimbursements and Indexation Requests, as required.
- Undertake financial reconciliation of claims.
- Consistently work towards reducing WorkCover Premium via strategic claims management
- Attend Service Unit, Departmental, Safety & Wellbeing Safety Committees and other meetings as required, and provide input with regard to injury management, claims management, injury prevention and related issues.
- Collect, analyse and compile accurate data concerning injury management, highlighting trends and areas needing particular attention.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by the Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator
- Input and assist in the development of prevention programs
- End-to-end management of client’s non-WorkCover / non-work related injury cases
- Direct liaison with stakeholders involved in invoicing process associated with all of Council’s injury management cases
Key Accountability include:
- Assist in the management of WorkCover claims so they are effectively and efficiently managed within legislative requirements
- Assist in preparing and coordinating appropriate return to work plans and rehabilitation programs for injured staff.
- Make and argue initial liability decisions regarding WorkCover claims, in consultation with Injury Management Advisor, to inform Insurance Agent upon claim lodgement - seek support where there is ambiguity.
- Liaise with treatment providers and other relevant stakeholders, where appropriate.
- Provide first line communication with nominated WorkCover Agent
- Provide accurate reporting and maintain timely, secure and accurate claims files
Specialist Knowledge and Skill:
- Provide knowledge and experience in the application of practices and procedures for an effective and efficient WorkCover Claims Management system.
- Possess a sound knowledge of Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

- Apply a flexible working attitude, with the capacity to prioritise and adapt a work style to suit a broad range of clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced systems and desktop skills.
- Tertiary or Diploma qualifications in a related discipline would be desirable.
- Experience in a WorkCover Insurance Agent role would be desirable.
- Experience in a Return to Work Coordinator, or similar, role would be desirable.
- Working with Children Check
- Police Check
