We are looking for a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to spearhead the health, stability, and evolution of a large scale cloud environment within the Australian Public Sector. This role is focused on high level infrastructure lifecycle management, ensuring that production and non-production environments remain secure, patched, and optimised.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Security Clearance
Candidates MUST hold a current AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 security clearance. Due to the nature of the project and government data sensitivity, we cannot consider applicants without an active clearance.
The Role
As an Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational excellence of an Azure-based platform. You will move beyond simple support to ensure the environment aligns with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and stringent internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform Governance: Lead the implementation of Azure Landing Zones (ALZ), managing policies, RBAC controls, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules.
- Hybrid OS Support: Provide expert-level management for both RHEL and Windows virtual machines, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Automated Maintenance: Oversee system health and patch compliance using Azure-native automation and update management tools.
- L2/L3 Troubleshooting: Act as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents, including network reachability, boot failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Observability: Integrate and manage monitoring frameworks using Azure Monitor and Dynatrace to facilitate proactive incident response.
- Security & Hardening: Implement system hardening recommendations and validate cloud-native backup/recovery processes to eliminate protection gaps.
Your Technical Profile
We are seeking a veteran engineer with 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in Azure-heavy environments.
Technical Essentials:
- Azure Mastery: Deep knowledge of ALZ, Azure Policy, NSG configurations, and Load Balancers.
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- OS Expertise: Strong background in administering both Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments.
- Tooling: Experience with Azure Update Management, Azure Automation, and storage account management.
- Service Management: A solid grasp of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, and Problem Management) and experience working with enterprise service desks.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Highly Regarded: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure DevOps Engineer.
- Bonus: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
- Experience: Prior experience navigating the compliance requirements of government or highly regulated sectors.
At Randstad Digital, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
