Are you an experienced policy professional who wants to make an impact on a national scale by driving critical policy reform, undertaking complex analysis, and developing informed strategies?
I am currently partnering with a prominent Federal Government client in the disability sector with an exciting and specialised role of APS6 Policy Officer. This is a critical role within the division, contributing directly to scheme reform programs and optimal participant outcomes.
About the Opportunity
As the Policy Officer, you will work within a collaborative team environment to develop contemporary policy and projects related to the disability market. Operating with limited direction, you will apply sound judgment to manage complex and sensitive issues, use data to form recommendations, and design meaningful stakeholder engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Undertake complex policy analysis, development, and implementation to support strategic reform initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identify, build, and manage strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, leading engagement and reform activities.
- High-Quality Writing: Contribute to the development of policy papers, corporate documents, briefings, reports, and presentations for a government audience to a high standard.
- Governance & Data Analysis: Work within established governance arrangements and utilize technical and data inputs to form practical policy recommendations.
Ideally you will possess:
- Demonstrated Experience: Background in strategic policy development, implementing reform projects, or working with legislation and procurement rules within the public sector.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, paired with excellent writing capabilities for government audiences.
- Sector Knowledge: Prior knowledge or experience within the disability sector is highly regarded.
- Adaptability & Collaboration: A proven ability to work flexibly as priorities emerge, contribute to a positive team culture, and collaborate effectively with minimal supervision.
- Qualifications: A relevant bachelor's degree is highly desirable, or equivalent professional work experience in a similar policy role.
