We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Officer to contribute to critical policy reform aimed at driving more efficient and effective service delivery models and achieving optimal stakeholder outcomes. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide strategic policy advice to the broader division by undertaking complex policy analysis, development and implementation. In this role, you will be trusted to apply sound judgement to manage highly complex and sensitive issues in a timely manner and to a high standard.
Policy Development: Work collaboratively within a team to develop contemporary, informed policies, strategies and projects related to commercial markets and service sectors.
Project Support: Contribute to major, high-profile reform projects in alignment with the organisation’s strategic reform program and corporate plan.
Stakeholder Engagement: Identify, build, and actively manage strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Engagement Design: Design, contribute to, and lead targeted stakeholder engagement and co-design activities.
High-Level Documentation: Contribute to the development of sophisticated policy frameworks, project blueprints, and corporate documents to a high standard.
Governance Compliance: Design, implement and work seamlessly within established public sector governance and authorising arrangements.
Data & Analysis: Utilise quantitative data and technical inputs to form evidence-based recommendations for senior executive consideration.
Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to navigate complex operational challenges.
Government Communication: Exceptional communication and writing skills, with a proven track record of drafting materials for a senior government audience.
Judgement & Governance: Good judgement, sound decision-making capabilities and robust governance skills.
Collaborative & Agile: A collaborative approach with the ability to work productively in a team dynamic as well as independently with limited direction.
Adaptability: High flexibility to pivot and effectively prioritise work on critical policy initiatives as they emerge.

Candidates should demonstrate experience across some or all of the following areas:
Strategic Policy: Demonstrated experience in strategic policy analysis, data interpretation and the end-to-end development of policy papers, briefs, reports and ministerial correspondence.
Public Sector Reform: Experience working within public sector frameworks to design and implement complex reform policies, programs, or projects.
Legislation: Practical experience working with or interpreting legislative frameworks and regulatory instruments.
Strategic Commissioning: Familiarity with strategic commissioning methodologies and a baseline understanding of Commonwealth procurement rules.
Sector Commitment: A strong motivation to optimise market structures, improve service delivery and enhance client outcomes.
Education: A relevant bachelor's degree is highly desirable, or equivalent professional work experience in a similar corporate/government policy setting.
Citizenship: You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for employment.
Vetting: Satisfactory completion of a Baseline Security Clearance and National Police Check is mandatory prior to commencement.
