About the Role
- Hourly Rate: $60.26 per hour + superannuation
- Location: Hybrid | Richmond or Geelong | ACT
- Contract Length: Contract until 31 December 2026, with extensions available
- Citizenship: You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for employment.
As an APS6 Broadcast Animator / Animation Designer, you will play an integral role in providing high-quality, in-house animation production services. You will take ownership of the full animation life cycle, translating complex ideas, agency priorities, and high-level directives into engaging, easy-to-understand visual content.
Role Responsibilities
- End-to-End Production: Deliver full-scope animation work, managing the ideation, storyboarding, scripting, editing, and final delivery of digital products.
- Multi-Channel Optimisation: Produce rich media content tailored for social media channels, websites, digital signage, and motion graphics.
- Brand & Style Adherence: Create branded animation content suites that maintain strict consistency with internal Style and Brand Guidelines.
- Advanced Visuals: Apply complex animation elements within piece-to-camera video segments and use animation as a powerful data visualisation tool.
- Asset Management: Efficiently organize, manage, and maintain internal animation assets and libraries.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate across cross-functional video production teams (including content writers and policy stakeholders) to manage timelines and fast-turnaround requests.
Selection Criteria (Key & Desirable Skills)
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite alongside 2D and 3D animation software, such as Blender. Exposure to Premiere Pro or Media Encoder is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Proven experience managing animation from initial concept, storyboarding, and scripting through to the finished project.
- Experience delivering animation outputs optimised for social media, websites, digital signage, and motion graphics, including using animation as a data visualisation tool.
- Ability to create consistent, branded animation suites across multiple video segments while effectively maintaining internal animation libraries.
- Demonstrated capability in end-to-end project management, stakeholder coordination, and working collaboratively within cross-functional video production teams under limited supervision.
- Prior experience in an Australian Government environment or knowledge of government communications protocols.
- A strong understanding Accessibility Guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2, captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions).
- Familiarity with media copyright, consent, and usage rights, alongside experience using content tracking tools and the wider Office 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
