The Opportunity
The primary purpose of this role is to provide a high level of skill, leadership, and professional knowledge in the delivery of end-to-end project management consulting services across a range of building and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, ensuring the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of building products to the client.
- End-to-End Project Management: Coordinate and manage all phases of building project implementation, including:
- Pre-Design
- Design and Documentation
- Contract Administration
- Post-Construction Activities
- Contract & Quality Assurance:
- Provide a high level of contract coordination for both traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Act as Superintendent or Principal’s Representative (where necessary) under construction contracts, ensuring strict adherence to quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Stakeholder & Team Leadership:
- Lead negotiations with consultants, local authorities, clients, and contractors to ensure value-for-money solutions.
- Manage relationships and stakeholder engagement (including daily client interfacing) to ensure the effective delivery of building programs.
- Coordinate and manage the activities of project staff, external consultants, contractors, and other business units to achieve project objectives.
- (Senior Role) Manage, monitor, lead, train, and mentor Project Managers and other staff within the Capital Works Team, proactively managing work performance.
- Financial & Reporting Control:
- Assist in determining attainable fees for services and generating approvals for client billing.
- Control project variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects.
- Coordinate regional capital-related reports, including the RED report.
Skills and Experience Required
- Mandatory:
- Proven knowledge and experience working in the building and construction industry project management.
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence - Class C Open.
- Current Australian working rights (Evidence required as part of application)
- Highly Desirable/Additional Requirements:
- Experience with Correctional, Fire, Justice, and Police projects would be highly regarded.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying) or relevant certification (e.g., AIPM RegPM or equivalent).
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to display initiative and attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised while contributing positively to wider team objectives.
