Randstad is recruiting for an experienced Finance Officer with a strong background in financial performance and reconciliations to join a State Government Department.
This is a full-time temporary assignment for 3 months, with a strong potential for extension. The role is classified at the AO4 level, offering an hourly casual rate of $60.05 plus superannuation. Based in the Gold Coast with an immediate start, this is a high-visibility opportunity to support a Senior Director during a critical financial period. As the Finance Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and reconciling a large volume of cost centres to ensure total financial integrity.
- Preparing, investigating, and processing complex journals and adjustments with high accuracy.

Reviewing and validating financial analysis provided by leadership to identify required actions.
Investigating actuals vs. budget and resolving discrepancies within the General Ledger.Identifying misallocations and performing essential clean-up activities to ensure records are audit-ready.Working closely with the Financial Performance team to hit tight end-of-month deadlines and resolve ad-hoc financial queries.Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience using SAP specifically for financial processing and journals is essential.
- High level of proficiency in Excel, including the use of Pivots and VLOOKUPs for data manipulation.
- Previous experience within a Health environment or Queensland Government is highly regarded.
- Previous experience in a similar contract role or fast-paced environment is highly regarded to ensure an immediate impact.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and reconcile large datasets and complex cost centre structures with precision.
- Proven experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment where meeting strict financial deadlines is a priority.
- Ability to balance high-volume transactional processing (journals) with the analytical skills required to review and interpret financial data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to report findings and work directly with senior leadership.
