In this role, you won’t just be managing files—you’ll be providing critical paralegal and administrative support that helps shape work health, safety, and electrical safety outcomes across Queensland.

The Impact You’ll Make
As an Appeals Support Officer, you will work autonomously to support Principal and Senior Appeals Officers in managing cases before the QIRC, Industrial Magistrates Court, and QCAT.
Key responsibilities include:
Case Management: Preparing briefs, arranging expert witnesses, and managing hearing logistics.
Legal Coordination: Issuing notices to produce, ordering transcripts, and managing time-sensitive travel bookings for counsel and witnesses.
Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as a professional point of contact for workers, employers, insurers, and legal representatives.
Digital Innovation: Maintaining the Appeals SharePoint Hub and using advanced digital solutions to ensure resources stay current.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings:
Experience: 1–2 years of administrative experience, ideally within a legal or dispute resolution setting as a paralegal.
Tech Savviness: Proficiency in Adobe and electronic file management, with intermediate to advanced word processing skills.
Organizational Flair: The ability to prioritize multi-tasking while meeting strict legislative and Court-directed timeframes.
Communication Skills: Excellence in verbal and written communication, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
Knowledge: A sound understanding of (or the ability to quickly learn) the procedures of the IM Court, QIRC, and QCAT.
