The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Engineer to join a leading enterprise team based in the Melbourne CBD. This contract role is critical for driving the development and feature enhancement of high-traffic mobile applications. You will be responsible for delivering robust, scalable, and pragmatic solutions using modern Android development practices, with a strong focus on Jetpack Compose and advanced architecture.
This role requires a proactive problem-solver with a proven ability to deliver under project deadlines in an operational environment.
Core Technical Expertise (Non-Negotiable)
Language & UI: Expert proficiency in Kotlin development, with hands-on, production experience using Jetpack Compose.
Architecture: Deep understanding and application of Clean Architecture patterns, including MVP and MVVM.
Asynchronous Programming: Extensive experience with modern concurrency frameworks, including Kotlin Flow, LiveData, Rx, and Coroutines.
Dependency Injection: Mastery of DI frameworks, specifically Dagger and HILT.
Tooling: Familiarity with Gradle and Bitrise for build and release management.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy pragmatic, high-quality features for mission-critical Android applications, adhering to project deadlines.
Act as a subject matter expert in Clean Architecture principles, ensuring code is scalable, testable, and maintainable.
Actively engage in problem management and root cause analysis within the operational production environment, resolving complex issues swiftly.
Drive and implement process improvements within the mobile development lifecycle.
Collaborate effectively within DevOps and Agile practices, utilizing modern tooling such as GitHub, Figma, Jira, and Confluence.

Demonstrated track record of delivering pragmatic, high-quality solutions within tight project deadlines.
Comfortable working with high-performance teams in a hybrid environment.
Contract Details
This is a 6-month contract opportunity based in a modern office in the Melbourne CBD, requiring three days per week onsite attendance.
