About the Role
Our client is a Victorian government entity based in Altona. They are currently seeking an Accounts Receivable Officer to come in and join their team based on a temp contract opportunity until 22nd April 2026.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Proven end to end Accounts Receivable processing experience
- Previous local or state government experience (Desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
Key responsibilities will include:
Revenue & Billing Management: Execute the end-to-end production of Council notices, invoices, and statements, ensuring high accuracy and strict adherence to scheduled timelines and legislative requirements.
Accounts Receivable & Records Maintenance: Maintain comprehensive financial records and billing information, specializing in the management of accounts receivable and the processing of daily agency payment files and direct debits.
Debt Recovery & Collection: Monitor outstanding amounts and maintain payment arrangements for approved debtors, liaising with external collection agencies to recover debts in accordance with Council procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Service: Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external billing inquiries, providing high-quality customer service and technical information to resolve complex account matters.
Process Improvement & Systems Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of billing systems, focusing on enhancing payment methods, streamlining collection workflows, and improving overall reporting efficiencies.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Support the Financial Services team by performing ledger-to-subsystem reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and assisting with daily banking and data entry requirements.
Collaborative Support & Compliance: Ensure all activities remain compliant with best practices and policy, while providing cross-functional backup for the finance and rating teams as required by organizational needs.
About You
You will be an experienced Accounts Receivable Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Proven end to end Accounts Receivable processing experience
- Previous local or state government experience (Desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
