Are you looking for a role that offers casual flexibility? We are seeking hard-working individuals to join our Casual Pool of Yard Hands. We are currently expanding our casual pool of Yard Hands to support our clients import operations. This role is primarily focused on the discharge of cargo from incoming vessels and the organised movement of goods within the yard. As part of the casual pool, you will be contacted to fill shifts based on vessel arrival schedules and peak operational demands.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Unlashing: Working on-deck and in the yard to remove heavy-duty lashings, chains, and securing gear from imported goods.
Forklift Operations: Operating machinery to clear the wharf, stack pallets, and organise the yard for efficient throughput.
Cargo Verification: Assisting with the tallying and inspection of goods as they are discharged from the vessel.
Flexible Support: Assisting with general yard duties, site cleanup, and equipment maintenance as required.
What You Bring to the Dock:
Valid Forklift Ticket: A current High Risk Work License (LF) is strongly preferred.
Availability: As this is a casual pool, we need people who are flexible and can often jump onto a shift with relatively short notice.
Safe Capability: This is a demanding role. You must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and be capable of heavy lifting.
Safety Focus: Ports are high-traffic, high-risk environments. A disciplined approach to PPE and safety protocols is a must.
Transport: Reliable transport to ensure you can get to the site for early or late shift starts.
