About the Role
The Venue Infrastructure and Overlay Project Manager is responsible for ensuring Olympic and Paralympic Games requirements are delivered into both permanent and temporary infrastructure and overlay across the Brisbane 2032 venues program.
Working in close partnership with the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) and the Queensland Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDIP), the role will support in ensuring Games requirements are embedded into the permanent infrastructure design and delivery of 17 new and upgraded competition venues and four new Village capital developments.
In parallel, the role supports the wider venues team by planning, coordinating and delivering temporary infrastructure and overlay across all other Games venues. These venues will include more than 35 competition venues, 10 villages, the Main Media Centre and various other non-competition venues) ensuring all venues are safe, fit-for-purpose, and operationally ready for test events and Games-time.
Initially reporting to the Director of Venues, the role will transition to report to the Director of Venue Infrastructure once appointed.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with GIICA and DSDIP to embed Games requirements into 17 new and upgraded competition venues and four Village projects, while seamlessly managing the integration of permanent works and temporary overlay, actively monitoring progress, critical paths, and change impacts in accordance with the Venue Integration Schedule.
- Lead the design, planning, and delivery of temporary infrastructure and overlay across all competition and key non-competition venues, while driving the seamless integration of critical utilities and services (power, water, technology, broadcast, and security) across both temporary and permanent builds.
- Represent Brisbane 2032 in delivery partner working groups and planning meetings to ensure the venues are designed to be fit-for-purpose for Games delivery.
- Collaborate with internal Brisbane 2032 Venue Management, Village Management and other Functional Areas (including Sport, Technology, Security, Transport, Broadcast, Logistics) to determine FA space and service requirements and ensure integrated, optimised delivery across venues.
- Support the development and execution of sourcing and delivery models across assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with Australian code and legislation on all assigned projects - supporting a culture of safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Support reporting requirements, including progress updates, risk reporting and executive briefings.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience leading the end-to-end delivery of large-scale, complex temporary overlay, flawlessly managing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality across multiple concurrent sites from design through to construction under fixed deadlines.
- A strong understanding of planning and design for multi-purpose sporting venues is highly desirable, coupled with a solid grasp of temporary event overlay delivery.
- Tertiary qualification and experience in project management, engineering, construction, architecture or a related discipline.
- Experience working in large-scale, program-managed environments with multiple delivery partners (including Government) and governance layers, including the management of consultants, contractors and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Deep familiarity with local and international building regulations, accessibility standards, and best practices for temporary overlay.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups.
