Nyrstar is a global multi-metals business and a leader in the integrated recovery of metals. The Port Pirie operation is currently seeking two (2) experienced Senior Safety Advisors to join the team for a high-impact, 3-month contract.

Main Primary Duties
Investigations: Lead ICAM reports to identify root causes and sustainable actions.
Maintenance Support: Provide expert safety advice and coaching to the maintenance team.
Trend Analysis: Develop incident trend reports to identify and mitigate systemic risks.
Safety Projects: Execute targeted risk-reduction projects to improve site safety.
Audit & Compliance: Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to safety systems.
Safety Advice: Act as a technical subject matter expert for frontline supervisors.

Working at Nyrstar Port Pirie requires a proactive approach to risk in a high-hazard metallurgical environment. As a Senior Safety Advisor, you will act as a technical bridge between safety strategy and frontline maintenance execution.
This is not a purely administrative role; it requires a self-starter who is comfortable being on the floor, engaging with work groups, and driving change. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end investigation process using the ICAM methodology, ensuring that findings are not just documented, but result in lower risk profiles.
A significant portion of your contract will involve analyzing incident trends specifically within the maintenance department. You will identify recurring pain points and lead "quick-win" safety projects—such as improving isolation procedures or hazard controls—that provide tangible safety outcomes for our workforce.
