Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Communications Officer, your duties will include:
- Strategy Development: Developing and implementing comprehensive communication and engagement plans for departmental projects and programs.
- Content Creation: Writing and editing high-quality content for diverse channels, including social media, websites, print publications, and digital platforms.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Partnering with senior management and internal portfolios to provide contemporary communications advice.
- Corporate Writing: Preparing complex documents, speech notes, presentations, and briefing notes for various stakeholders.
- Proactive Planning: Identifying media and communication opportunities and strategically executing them in line with departmental priorities.
- Safety & Values: Promoting a safe workplace (physical and psychosocial) while upholding principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Communication Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in corporate communications, specifically in managing integrated internal and external strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Well-developed conceptual and problem-solving abilities within the context of large-scale communication programs.
- Writing Proficiency: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to research and edit a wide range of materials.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a track record of building relationships with senior management and external partners.
- Time Management: The ability to work under pressure and manage concurrent deadlines effectively.
- Qualifications (Desirable): A relevant tertiary qualification is highly regarded.
- Expereince working within the government sector
