We are seeking two (2) experienced Safety Managers to join our team for an immediate contract engagement supporting critical infrastructure delivery on the Sydney Metro network.
These contract positions offer competitive daily rates, an immediate start, and an initial term running until 16 October 2026. A review for potential extension will take place in late September, subject to the progress of associated works.
Each Safety Manager will be allocated an area of management responsibility covering one of the following key corridors:
Sydney Metro Southwest (Sydenham to Bankstown)
Sydney Metro M1 Line, City Section (Chatswood to Sydenham)
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the project leadership team, your day-to-day functions will include:
Work Access Reviews: Review Work Access Request (WAR) forms prepared and submitted by FIW Contractors and/or SigCons from a Safety Management perspective.
Operational Risk Advice: Assist in determining if proposed works will adversely impact operations (including customers and/or the general public). Provide advice to Project Managers on specific site safety management requirements, including the allocation of works to engineering hours or weekend possessions.
SMS Compliance: Provide advice to Project Managers and internal stakeholders regarding compliance with the network's Safety Management System (SMS) as it relates to defect completion.
Documentation Review: Work closely with Project Managers and FIW Contractors to review Site Safety Management Plans and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
Site Supervision: Provide general supervision of contractors within your nominated work area to monitor compliance with approved safety plans.
Incident Investigation: Assist in the investigation of safety incidents, including documenting site investigations and maintaining detailed records.
Key Attributes & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will bring a professional, diligent work ethic and the ability to hit the ground running under minimal supervision.
Essential Criteria:
Experience in site safety management within construction/delivery of rail projects.
Strong background in rail and/or station construction.
Deep knowledge of rail possessions and possession management.
Extensive experience in current WHS and rail safety regulations, including a strong understanding of Principal Contractor obligations.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently at all levels, including executive leadership.
Ability to work weekends from time to time to align with rail possessions.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Highly Desirable:
Previous experience working specifically on the Sydney Metro system.
