A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Procurement Specialist to join an exciting local government body. This role will contribute significantly to the transformation and modernisation of procurement processes across the organization. It offers a chance to influence strategic procurement decisions, lead supplier negotiations, and drive value-for-money outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
Running both simple and complex sourcing events, including RFQs, RFTs, and the establishment of panels.
Acting as a business partner to internal stakeholders, providing proactive procurement support, strategic advice, and aligning objectives to ensure effective outcomes.
Managing and supporting a wide range of tenders across multiple categories to ensure successful project delivery.
Leading negotiation efforts across diverse tenders, including high-value and high-risk procurements, ensuring commercially sound results.
Developing and nurturing strong supplier relationships, helping both current and new suppliers build partnerships that support innovation and service excellence.
Promoting the internal profile of procurement, working independently to manage workload, priorities, and stakeholder expectations with minimal oversight.
Analyzing supplier performance, spend, and supply chain risks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency.
What You Will Need to Apply
A minimum of 5 years of strategic procurement experience, ideally within the public sector or a complex commercial environment.
Demonstrated high integrity and sound judgement, with a deep alignment to public sector probity and governance requirements.
Relevant qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, contract management, business, or a related field.
Excellent stakeholder management experience with a customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering solutions for the wider community.
Proven understanding of the legal, financial, and commercial aspects of contracts.
Ability to commence at short notice with a growth mindset and a passion for making a positive impact.
