About the Role
The Procurement Specialist will report to the Director of Procurement and play a key role in providing procurement and contracting support to Brisbane 2032. This position will be responsible for sourcing a diverse range of goods and services across multiple industry sectors and categories. In addition, the role will provide contract management support and advice to various functional areas of the organisation.
As part of a small but dedicated procurement team, the Procurement Specialist will need to be hands-on, adaptable, and ready to contribute across a broad range of procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end procurement support to all Brisbane 2032 functional areas.
- Support procurement planning and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Manage all aspects of end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFx development and compliance, leading commercial negotiations, and drafting key decision papers
- Lead contract negotiation and drafting, working closely with the Legal team on legal matters to execute approved contracts.
- Provide end-to-end contract management support across functional areas, including monitoring delivery, quality, costs, and risks, as well as handling variations, managing disputes, and overseeing contract close-outs.
- Directly manage contract performance for Corporate Services contracts or other contracts assigned to the Procurement function.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, transactions, and contracts in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Support supplier management, customer engagement, and community engagement activities as required.
- Champion the Brisbane 2032 Values by fostering a respectful, safe, and inclusive team culture, while strictly upholding ethical standards, transparent governance, and all workplace policies.
Skills and Experience
- A strong team player, comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment that will scale into a large and complex organisation.
- Experience in a relevant procurement function.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven commercial acumen, with strong negotiation skills and experience.
- Solid experience in contract management, including drafting, execution, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with the Queensland Government Procurement Policy is highly regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a process-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
