A leading, family-owned, proudly Australian transport and logistics provider specialising in palletised freight and container transport.
About the Role:
This is a results-driven Transport Operations Manager position, ideal for a highly motivated and results-oriented transport professional who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced operational environment. The Ops manager will lead, optimise, and manage all aspects of the transport and fleet operations based at the depot in Kemps Creek.
Your duties will include:
- Manage all daily transport operations, including scheduling, dispatch, routing, and load planning to ensure the safe, on-time, and in-full delivery of goods across the Sydney metropolitan area and NSW.
- Utilise Transport Management Systems (TMS) and route planning software to continually monitor and improve route efficiency, vehicle utilisation, and resource allocation to minimise costs and maximise productivity.
- Set, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as DIFOT, cost-per-delivery, and fleet utilisation, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the preventative maintenance and repair schedule for the entire fleet to ensure maximum operational uptime and compliance with roadworthiness standards.
- Manage fuel efficiency programs and oversee the inventory of critical transport-related supplies.
- Champion a culture of safety. Ensure strict compliance with NHVR, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, WHS/OH&S standards, and NSW road transport regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the team of Drivers, Schedulers, and Despatch personnel, including performance reviews, training, and ongoing development.
- Investigate and report on all transport-related incidents, accidents, and near-misses, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the annual transport budget, focusing on cost control across labour, fuel, maintenance, and freight.
The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Proven experience in a Transport, Logistics, or Fleet Operations (preferrably Management) role, ideally within the Sydney/NSW region.
- Strong commercial acumen, people skills, and the ability to motivate a team of operational staff
