This position demands strong technical expertise and a proven track record in major event delivery. You'll collaborate with partners and suppliers to integrate essential temporary infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with venue designs, build schedules, and quality standards from construction to decommissioning. The role also involves liaising with Council, State Government, and legacy teams to manage venue build scope, clarify operational needs, and resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of all temporary infrastructure and overlay required for the Games. Ensuring it is in accordance with IF, IOC, IPC and other key stakeholder requirements, while proactively identifying optimisation opportunities.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with key partners including Queensland Government agencies, (Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA), Department of State Development and Infrastructure Planning (DSDIP), IOC and IPC to support the collaborative planning and delivery of Games venues.
- Support integrated planning with key stakeholders to align deliverables, scope, and milestones, while developing overlay design principles, detailed designs, construction schedules, and project management frameworks for the delivery of temporary infrastructure across all Brisbane 2032 venues.
- Ensure that accessibility principles are embedded throughout all planning stages and that temporary infrastructure supports equitable participation across all stakeholders.
- Ensure that overlay planning, design, and delivery meets all regulatory and health and safety requirements, embedding a culture of safety and compliance across all phases of implementation.
- Conduct site visits and audits to ensure venue designs align with existing conditions. Conduct technical studies to assess feasibility, explore alternatives, and validate overlay and venue development proposals.
- Work with suppliers, venue owners, internal FAs and consultants/contractors during all phases – starting with the detailed planning phases to finalise venue designs and confirm scope.
- Support the Director of Venue Infrastructure, Director of Venues and wider Venues and Venue Infrastructure departments as required. This will include the representation of Brisbane 2032 at various senior internal and external meetings.
Skills and Experience
- 5-10 years of major event experience (preferably multi-sport), adept at multi-stakeholder and supplier integration.
- Technical understanding of engineering services, including power, hydraulics, data, and structural loading, to guide permanent venue partners in accommodating temporary overlay requirements would be beneficial.
- Strong background in venue design and construction, capable of interpreting technical drawings and integrating Brisbane 2032 requirements into legacy infrastructure.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, lead high-performing teams, and influence complex stakeholder groups.

- Experience in the ‘Health and Safety by Design’ process.
- Proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD, and Revit, with experience in establishing and implementing design standards and producing procurement drawings.
- A proactive, positive, and collaborative attitude, capable of independent work, quick decision-making, and effective project management in a fast-paced environment.
