The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic financial services business that is expanding rapidly. They aren’t your typical rigid corporate lender—they have built a nimble, high-energy environment where new ideas are welcomed and individual initiative actually gets noticed.
They are looking for a Lending Team Leader who brings a natural sales hustle. This is a true player-coach role. You will be leading a tight-knit team of 5 lending specialists right now, with a clear directive to back your own judgment, use your initiative, and grow that team to around 8 by the end of the year.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing
You will be the bridge between senior leadership and the frontline team, keeping the energy high and driving daily execution.
Lead & Hustle (Player-Coach): You’ll guide, mentor, and coach your team through regular one-on-ones, call observations, and role-plays to keep them motivated and smashing targets. You’ll also personally roll up your sleeves to handle complex or high-value files.
Quality & Pipeline Control: Triage inbound enquiries and check over loan applications before they hit credit submission, making sure any risk flags are sorted out
Compliance & Protection: Keep the team up to speed on responsible lending guidelines (NCCP) and help them look out for things like customer vulnerability or elder financial abuse.
Process Freedom: Because it’s a growing business, you'll have the space to identify capability gaps, design quick training sessions, and improve workflows
About You
The client needs a self-starter who doesn't wait for permission. You need to have a proactive, solution-focused attitude and a genuine love for driving sales performance.
The Track Record: Minimum 5 years in home lending, with at least 2 years spent leading a team or working in a senior, player-coach capacity.
The Lending DNA: You know the full lifecycle inside out—from initial lead assessment all the way through to settlement.
The Brains: Strong credit assessment skills and a solid understanding of responsible lending obligations under the NCCP Act.
The Empathy: Because their target customer base is 55+, you need to balance your sales drive with real patience, warmth, and an understanding of customer vulnerability.
The Paperwork: A Cert IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking (or you're working towards it). If you know your way around HubSpot CRM, that's a huge bonus
