About the Opportunity
Are you a skilled trades person or an experienced handyman ready to take the next step in your career? Do you want to move away from just chasing the next gig and step into a stable, rewarding leadership role right here in your local region?
We are launching an exciting, state-of-the-art sustainable agricultural facility in the northern SA region. We are looking for a Lead Maintenance Technician who wants to get in on the ground floor. You will be involved right from the construction phase—giving you a firsthand understanding of how the facility is put together—before transitioning into the leader responsible for keeping the entire farm and facility running smoothly.
Your Role: From Construction to Leadership
This isn't just a standard maintenance job; it's a dynamic role that evolves with the project:
... The Build Phase: You will be on-site during construction, working alongside the project team to understand the plumbing, structural elements, and specialised farming systems.
Daily Farm Operations: Once operational, you will own the daily preventative and reactive maintenance of the agricultural facility and surrounding farm infrastructure.
Trade Coordination: When a specialised fix is required, you will be the point of contact to organise, schedule, and oversee external contractors and trades.
Facilities Leadership: Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, you will be the on-the-ground eyes and ears. You'll need to step up, make decisions, prioritise workloads, and take true ownership of the facility.
What We Are Looking For
We need someone practical, reliable, and ready to lead. You will be a great fit if you have:
A solid background as a qualified trades person (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical) OR a highly experienced, versatile handyman.
A problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose issues and perform hands-on repairs whenever possible.
Leadership potential. You don’t need to have been a manager before, but you must be ready to step up, communicate professionally with external contractors, and take responsibility for the site.
Local focus. This is a regional role. We are strongly prioritising local candidates who want to work close to home and support a sustainable local industry.
Management Skills & Qualifications (Preferred)
While we value hands-on capability, this leadership role requires strong organizational skills. We highly regard candidates who possess:
Contractor & Vendor Management: Experience scheduling, briefing, and overseeing external tradespeople to ensure work is completed safely and to standard.
Leadership or Supervisory Experience: Previous experience leading a small team, acting as a site foreman, or managing projects is highly desirable.
Tech Literacy: Ability to use basic computer software for maintenance logging, emails, and parts ordering (experience with a CMMS/maintenance software is a plus).
Relevant Qualifications: A Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, Frontline Management, or Project Management will be highly regarded but is not essential if you have equivalent on-the-job leadership experience.
Required Tickets & Licenses
To be successful in this role, you must hold (or be willing to obtain) the following:
White Card (General Construction Induction) – Essential for the initial build phase
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (Manual licence preferred)
High Risk Work Licence - Forklift (LF) * Working at Heights / Confined Space tickets (Highly desirable)
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket (Desirable)
First Aid Certificate (Or willingness to complete)
How to Apply
If you are ready to put your trade skills to use in a leadership capacity and grow with an innovative sustainable farm, we want to hear from you!
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you are the perfect local fit for this role.
